Business License Online Application

The City of Santa Clara Business Tax Code requires that every person engaging in business within the City, must register and pay the applicable business tax at the time of commencement of buisness activity or upon occupying space in the business community (Section 3.40.130). After a business registers and pays the applicable tax, a business tax certificate will be issued which must be displayed at your place of business at all times.

1. All questions must be answered or designated not applicable (N/A), as appropriate.
2. Additional information may be required.
3. A separate application must be completed for each location and for each business at the same location.
4. If you have an existing account owned by the same business owner(s), you are required to provide the existing certificate number. 5. All Business Tax Certificates must be renewed or cancelled at the time of expiration or additional fees/penalties will apply.

If you are not located or conducting business within the City of Santa Clara, please do not submit a business certificate application but contact the appropriate city.
